DANAHER FAMILY HISTORY

Subtitle

O'Sullivan Family, Ballyhahill

Marie O'Sullivan who married Philip Danaher in 1875 was from Tinakilla, near Ballyhahill, Co Limerick. Her father is listed as Roger O'Sullivan, farmer in her Marriage Certificate.

Marie's brother Michael had a pub in the village of Ballyhahill and he called one of his sons Roger after his grandfather. This Roger was a well known sportsman as outlined in the article below which can be viewed by clicking in the attached PDF file :

Roger's sons Michael and Eddie were also well known footballers as recounted in the attached article from the same newspaper :

These articles have been copied from a collection of articles about well known  Limerick sportsmen written by Seamus O'Callaigh in the 1950's which appeared in the Limerick Leader. The full collection can be viewed at :

During the recent visit of Chris Danaher (July 2013) we visited Tinakilla and were shown around by Denis O'Brien who turned out to be related to Chris through the O'Sullivan's. The original O'Sullivan farm of circa 80 acres has changed hands a few times and was recently acquired by the McDonald brothers who are very large farmers in the area. The old homestead is now a wreck as can be seen from this photograph taken during our visit.
