Dear All,

Patrick Danaher is my great grand uncle, brother to my great grandfather, Daniel. For further details, please refer to my comment on Daniel Danaher's photograph.

Earlier this year, I visited the former house of Patrick Danaher in Woodlciffe near Athea. It has a historical signficance in the War of Irish Independence of 1919 to 1921. Patrick sheltered Sean Finn, the leader of the West Limerick Brigade, in this house on 29th March 1920. The following day, a struggle took place between the Black and Tans (British Auxilliries on the side of the British Crown forces) and the Irish Republican Army. The clash was not far from Patrick's house as the Black and Tans managed to locate Sean Finn due to the work of an informer

On 30th March 1920, Sean Finn was killed in this battle as the Ballyhahill Division tried unsuccessfully to save him. This particular division was lead by Jack Tom O'Connor who recruited by great uncle, Michael Kelly. Michael was half brother to my grandmother Margaret Danaher and lived in Kelly's Cross, next door to the farm in Monemohill. The farm, at that time, was owned by great grandfather.

Siobhan , your question is confusing... you are asking Maurice, if the man in this Photo, (which Maurice has indicated that he is a Patrick and you Maurice are 100% correct on that right?) is a Maurice? Why are you asking for a different name? just wondering.
Also, Maurice , are they husband and wife, Nora and Pat?

Nora's maiden name was Dillion from Co Kerry. Not related to Danaher's.
