Well I am afraid that I do not understand Gaelic but I do understand the name Daniel Danaher - my father and grandfather were also Daniel Danaher here in Australia - so perhaps we are also related.

Hey, my name is Caitlin Danaher-
My Grandfather Michael Danaher- his parents came over to Australia from Limerick a while back and I am surprised to see how many Michael, Patrick, Mary Danaher's etc there are... the first names definately live on in this Family name. I don't really know any other Danahers that are direct family to me besides the 2 other families here in Australia that I grew up knowing,,, I don't think there's very many of us here, but I hope one day i'll be able to meet others, possibly in Ireland.

Have you been able to make any connection with the Danaher's in the Brisbane area ?. What part of Australia are you from yourself ? Do you have any names or addresses for your irish Ancestors. The 1901 Irish Census can be viewed on line for free if you log onto irishcensus.ie.

Hi im looking for margaret danaher she married james patrick hart in melbourne in 1856 and had a daughter elizabeth hart and she came to australia from ireland between 1838 and 1856 any help would be great.

I have a relative Bridget Hayes who married a Tom Danaher. They lived in America and came back to Athea and bought a farm and owned a shop in Athea. Tom Danaher died in the summer of 1949.

Hi My grandfather was born in Newbridge, or Riddlestown. His father was Richard an his grandfather was Anselm Taylor of Loghill, If I have all the Taylors straight, They all used Richard Anselm and John so there were any number of those names in play most of the time. Curious if you have any other info on the Taylor family, any old photos of a Taylor would be quiet helpful as the looks do not fall far from the tree. Thanks Mark

I came upon your cite doing research for my wife. Her great grandmother is the Ina (Johana) listed as one of John and Margret's children. She married Patrick Connors, also of Athea Upper and they had 7 possibly 9 children most of whom emigrated to the US. Four settled in Buffalo, NY. But contact has been lost. I'd be interested to know if you can pin point John and Margaret Danaher's farm in Athea Upper or have any further info on them. Gene

It was lovely to come across your site. I'm the daughter of Beverley Tanner (nee Danaher). My grandfather was Francis Patrick Wilson Danaher, one of the Australian Danahers. Thanks so much for sharing the photographs and stories about the family. It's been wonderful to read. I currently reside in Oxford in England with my husband who is studying here. I fondly remember a trip to Ireland many years ago, and I think we met at the time. We also met Margaret and her family, Donal and very memorably, Aunty Josephine. Best wishes and kind regards, Helen

I am researching my Trehy/Trahey family from Shannagolden, Foynes etc area and have a marriage record for Maria Danaher to James Trehy 20 Feb 1838 in Shannagolden RC church records. The witnesses were #1 Maurice Barrett and #2 Lucas Shaughnessy. I also have Shannagolden Baptism records for 3 children, Margaret, Michael and Ellen.
Do you have any information about Maria and where she fits into the Danaher family?

We may be related to Maurice Walsh, author of the Quiet Man. I believe that his grandparents were Maurice Walsh and Bridget Leyne of Ballydonoghue/Tullamore area. Our great great great grandfather Michael of Tullamore was probably Maurice Walsh's brother or cousin.
